To make our English classes more authentic and feasible,we had chosen to start a partnership with an English speaking country.
The choice have been made and we contacted a school from England.
St Philip Howard Catholic High School is located in the south east of England.Students are aged 11-19 years.
St Philip Howard Catholic High School has over 700 hundred students and around 120 in the sixth form. It is a school performing well with 77% of G.C.S.E. students gaining five A*-C grades in 2008. KS3 performance exceeds national average and performance post sixteen was judged satisfactory in January 2007. However the school considers that students’ knowledge and experience of different ways of learning has been limited, and hopes to improve student performance, especially after the age of 16, by addressing this. The school would like to produce more resilient, adaptable and independent learners and have begun to do this by dedicating 20% (a full day per week) to Opening Minds.
First, we decided jointly to exchange letters.
Students from England will be writing in French.Eventually, our students will write in English.Topics will be varied depending on the teachers and students’ choice.
We are looking to further develop this partnership and reach the utmost outcomes.
